Good day and welcome to Round Seal!

Round Seal Coffee is a special project that I've been contemplating on for years. I am a big coffee fan and have traveled around the world to find the perfect cup, and I am amused by how coffee has evolved from a beverage to means of expression. One sip is all you need to taste a culture or a philosophy, and I thought to myself that one day I would want to provide this elevated journey to people akin and afar.

But the truth is I am still trying to figure out who I am. I think it is important that my coffee shop speaks my story, and my story is still in the works. I live in the best and the worst of times. Everyday I learn and I stay baffled. So I decided to put off my project until I could understand myself better, or at least understand better how I see the world.

The deadline I've set for myself is my 30th birthday and I am excited for the day to come and for Round Seal to meet you. Before that, you're welcomed to join me in brewing the Round Seal story together.

About Me

My name is Captain Seal but you can call me Sophie. I grew up in Southern China with little exposure to coffee in my childhood. At the age of 15, I came to the United States and began exploring the world of coffee. I was blessed with the opportunity to spend my college years in NYC wondering around coffee shops and taking solo trips to Seattle / Hawaii and other parts of the world for more caffeinated adventures.

After graduating from college I returned to Asia and worked as an investment banker, and used to consume 3-4 espresso drinks every day. I am now working at a startup back in China, and I love making and studying coffee in my spare time. Excited for where life will take me next.

I'm passionate about seals but... I am not sure why. They're just fun to watch. Wish I could be raising a seal but am just raising two cats and my husband currently.
